A taste of the Escape Beaufortain
The objective of the day was multiple and at the same time very simple. Let's not lie to ourselves, personal pleasure above all, that of discovery, new trails, new views. This desire to go and see behind, a feeling of adventure quite unique to gravel, which breaks the codes. But we might as well combine business with pleasure. Convinced that the Beaufortain is an incredible playground for lovers of the great outdoors, we had already put online at the beginning of the year a 2-day weekend escape with a night in a refuge accompanied by Jérôme Furbeyre, whose knowledge of gravel maps is no longer in doubt. This is why the second objective of the day was obviously scouting, taking photos and writing in order to inspire you, dear readers and supporters of the Matchy brand.
With 80 km and 2800m of elevation gain, the program was condensed, and allows us to better understand the required level but also the possible breakdown of the escape. Spoilers are not really our thing, and as the title "foretaste" says, we might as well keep some up our sleeve because nothing beats the personal pleasure of discovery. What we can say is that it is beautiful, and surprisingly "rolling", which is often the fear when we talk about alpine gravel. Nestled between Mont Blanc, the magical atmosphere of the Cormet de Roselend and the Italian glaciers, we oscillated all day between 1800 and 2600m of altitude, where the calm and the landscapes offer you an incomparable disconnection. The pleasure of cycling, without looking at the average and without the dangers of the road...

Let yourself be guided! Gravel is beautiful, it's an adventure, but you can't get rid of the fact that a beautiful trail is rarely (if ever) a one-off. And that's where we come in. Let yourself be guided, focus solely on your effort and the pleasure of discovery. No need to say to yourself "oh no, it was on the left", "damn, I don't get it and it doesn't actually go here"...
